SURVIVALS Verónica Galván Curated by: Soledad Sánchez Goldar August 19 to October 22, 2023 The action vanishes in time and space, occurring in the fleeting margins of time. However, the transmutation of what intervenes in the event prevails, survives that moment, and energetically persists in the body, in space, and in the objects involved in the action. In this exhibition, Verónica Galván brings together a series of vestiges of performances she has carried out at different times and in different contexts. These residual objects transcend the ephemeral nature of the performative event, of the action subject to a specific time and space. These aesthetic documents, arranged in the exhibition space of Fulana Galería, preserve the time and energy of each performance, having passed through a state of liminality. From being ordinary objects, used in the ritual space of the performance, in communion with Verónica's body, they become remnants of the artistic action, and a living archive in conjunction with the artist herself and her personal experience as a performance artist. A broken table, a tablecloth and falling stones, flower petals slapped onto fabric, soaps with images of virgins reluctant to disappear—these aesthetic vestiges, now exhibited in these galleries, are a record of Verónica's own work, but also of a cultural, political, and aesthetic moment in this artist's life in dialogue with her social context.
